“I would like to give you a warm welcome to our Society. We have an amazing Board and together we continue to work towards the advancement of our Profession. Everyone on our Board is welcoming and passionate about patient care and the practice of Optometry. We welcome and encourage you to join us at upcoming social, continuing education and volunteering events. Please also feel free to join us at our next monthly board meeting.

I believe it is very important for all optometrists to be part of the AOA. I urge you to be both part of AOA, COA and at local level to ensure that your voice is heard. Membership in the AOA grants you many benefits including representing the interests of Optometrists in the California legislature and the courts and advocating for a position in the regulatory and health care systems and for the inclusion in managed care programs.

Allow me to tell you a little bit about myself. I graduated from UCLA with a BS in Biology, before starting optometry school at Pacific University College of Optometry. I then went on to complete a residency in Low Vision Rehabilitation at the Center for the Partially Sighted. I have a passion for Pediatric Low Vision which is why after completing my residency I continued to work at CPS as a Pediatric Low Vision Optometrist. I currently work in private practice and also work at MEND (Meet Each Need With Dignity), a non-profit located in the San Fernando Valley, whose goal is to the break the bonds of poverty by providing basic human needs and a pathway to self-reliance. I was also recently honored with a Young Optometrist of the year award (2017).

Please feel free to e-mail us at SFVOScom@gmail.com if you have any questions or would like more information on joining our Board.

Cheers to an incredible year.”
